A roof restoration is a complete overhaul of your existing tiled roof. There are many reasons why it may be necessary to complete a full roof restoration. A full roof restoration will enhance the look of your home dramatically, whilst adding years to the total life span of your roof!
Cement Roof Restorations throughout Melbourne and Surrounding Suburbs
Stage 1 – Roof Inspection: A qualified member of our team will arrive and meet the client at an arranged time at their Melbourne home. We will prepare a detailed inspection report from our findings during the roof inspection. We will go over this with you in a way that you can fully understand the terminology. We will decide a course of action together based on this discussion.
Stage 2 – Colour Selection: We will always provide our clients with a colour chart early on in the restoration. We can help with ideas as to what colours would suit your home or we can leave it totally up to you! The colour does not need to be chosen yet as we can order and pick up the paint the day before we start the painting process.
Stage 3 – Caring As We Go: Our trained team know that the number one priority will always be to respect the customer and their property. This means that we will go to every precaution to protect all property that might be affected by roofing restorations. We promise to leave your home as clean, if not cleaner than when we arrived.
Stage 4 – Installation Of Safety Guard Rail: Once we have the go-ahead, it will be time to book in a start date for the restoration. In most cases, the roof will need to be railed so that we can safely and legally start the roof restoration. We engage the services of a licensed scaffolding company to install the safety rails. We will usually get the rail booked for installation a couple of days before we start. The rail will generally be removed a few days after your roof restoration has been completed
Stage 5 – Replacement Of Broken Tiles: Our first course of action once up on the roof is to remove and replace any broken tiles that would potentially leak during the high-pressure cleaning stage of the roofing restoration. We can almost always match the tiles with the exact same replacements
Stage 6 – High Pressure Cleaning: The cleaning stage is crucial to allowing the paint to bond to the tiles properly. We are able to complete the washing with our high-pressure cleaning machines, using just your ordinary tap water. We will carefully prepare your Melbourne or nearby property before the clean by ensuring all belongings around the house have been moved prior to cleaning, any rainwater tanks have been disconnected and ensuring that all spouting and downpipes are free flowing and not blocked. A full rinse down of your Melbourne property and the surrounding properties will be completed after the wash.
Stage 7 – Roof Repair Work: The repairs will now begin. This will include things like the renewal of old valley irons, the inspection and repair of all flashings, the repairs to any timberwork on the roof, skylight repairs etc. This work will always be discussed in the inspection stage so that the client knows exactly what work is being completed.
Stage 8 – Bedding & Flexible Pointing: Depending on the condition of the current bedding & pointing we may include the removal of the old mortar and cement work. After the old bedding is removed the new bedding foundation is laid and ridge cappings are put into place with the help of a bedding frame. Once this has dried, we apply our flexible pointing compound to all ridge cappings and gable tiles.
Stage 9 – Final Clean Down: Now that your roof is nearly ready to be painted, we have one final task to complete. We must ensure that the roof surface is completely free of any foreign matter that would stop the paint from adhering to the tiles. To do this will complete a full blow down off the roof and if necessary, a secondary rinse down with our pressure washers.
Stage 10 – Painting Process: Now that the roof is ready to be painted, we will apply the chosen paint system. Generally, we will apply a three-coat Dulux system in your chosen colour.
Stage 11 – Final Clean Up: The Final Clean Up Once the work on your roof has been finished, we complete a final inspection of the whole property and remove any rubbish and debris from the site. We leave the job knowing that the customer will be 100% satisfied.
